Artist Statement

I create art in order to gain a feeling of success and fulfillment. Throughout my childhood and continuing through my adolescence, I have immersed myself into art and displayed my talent and interests throughout this love. For me, art has served as a way to bring myself to terms; it is calming and enjoyable. I believe that art is different for all people. Because of the broad abilities and opportunities that art has to offer, we are able to define ourselves by our definition of art. Personally, I define art as a personal creation that gives a feeling or expresses an idea. I consider myself to be a more traditional artist, however, abstract and idealistic traits of art are also included in my creating process.

Art has sparked an interest in design and development. I have began to notice certain artistic qualities in buildings and structures, fascinated by the process of architecture and the ability to take a passion of mine to the next level by creating an entire experience and grand piece of art through a building. The thought of seeing something that I have designed turn into a use in reality, a constructive space for society, is a goal that I hope to accomplish and master. The time, effort, and enjoyment that I have spend creating art and seeing through design elements will continue throughout my life and I am excited to participate in a career that I will have fun doing everyday.

My high school art career has lead to my dream of being an architect. I have enjoyed the process of maturing my artistic talents and creating a body of work that represents my ideas and creativity. I have many social ideas and commentary incorporated into my work. A common theme of my work focuses on inequities in society and self reflection. I have spend a great amount of effort into my art and I feel that I have a fair share of successes and failures that I have learned from. I hope to continue to learn as I make art and experiment with new ideas. As I continue to solve problems with my artwork and now incorporate design and architectural based ideas into my work,  I have a challenge ahead of me that I am excited and willing to face.
